Karori Lions Club members have often hosted Overseas Youth Exchange particpants. Here are December 2000 visitors Mary, from Grafton, NSW, Allison, from Lucindale, SA (both hosted by Karori President Tom Lumb and Anne and, later, by Dorothy and Tom Thomson of Onslow Club) and Taryn, from Rockhampton, Qld (hosted by VDG Ken Daniels and Robyn of Wellington Host Club).

On a typical sunny Wellington day, Taryn, Mary and Allison are inspired by the breathtaking views across Wellington and the harbour from the top of Wrights Hill, in Karori. Mary, Allison and Taryn ride the old Cable Car in the newly opened museum in Kelburn.

At the entrance to the Otari Plant Museum and reserve Allison, Taryn and Mary meet local Member of Paliament and Minister of Broadcasting Marian Hobbs at public debate hosted by the Karori Group of Amnesty International.
